Dana Perino Marks Fox News' 30th Anniversary by Honoring Behind-the-Scenes Teams

As Fox News Channel celebrates its 30th anniversary, anchor Dana Perino has penned a tribute to the unsung heroes whose work behind the camera makes the network's programming possible. In an essay reflecting on her nearly 17 years with the network, Perino emphasizes the dedication and skill of producers, technical crews, media relations teams, and support staff.

Perino notes that while anchors and hosts are visible to viewers, the vast majority of the Fox News workforce operates outside the spotlight. She credits these individuals with the ability to adapt quickly to breaking news, a hallmark of the network's operations. "They have to gather information, verify it, find the right pictures, reach the right correspondents and guests, and help us understand what matters — fast," Perino wrote. "That kind of flexibility only looks effortless when the people doing it are exceptionally good at their jobs."

She recounts personal instances where the support of these teams proved crucial, such as during a difficult interview following the 2021 Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan. Perino stated that a producer's reassuring voice in her ear helped her maintain composure and continue the broadcast. "Assistants are a lifeline for us — they produce our lives," she added. "They do the research, keep the schedule, block and tackle, and get in front of problems."

The tribute also extends to the technical teams responsible for connectivity and broadcast quality, as well as wardrobe and hair and makeup artists who ensure on-air talent is presentable. Perino described her hair and makeup team as "sister-friends" and highlighted the close working relationships formed over years of collaboration.

Perino also acknowledged the efforts of the media relations department for promoting the network's work and defending it when necessary, as well as the digital, radio, and podcast teams that have expanded the network's reach across various platforms. She emphasized that despite technological changes, the core mission remains the same: to find and serve the audience.

Reflecting on the longevity of her career and the network, Perino stated, "Thirty years later, the technology is different. The platforms are different. The way people consume news is different. But excellence still comes down to people and our corporate culture." She concluded by expressing confidence in the network's future, attributing its success and endurance to the collective efforts of its staff.
