Dana Loesch Clashes with Jenna Bush Hager Over Shane Gillis SNL Joke

Nationally syndicated radio host Dana Loesch has publicly criticized 'Today' host Jenna Bush Hager's response to comedian Shane Gillis's joke about women's attire at the gym. The exchange began after Bush Hager expressed her disapproval of Gillis's remarks on the NBC morning show.

During his 'Saturday Night Live' appearance, Gillis quipped, "I haven't been to the gym in so long I didn't know women just dress like wh--es now?" The joke drew criticism, with Bush Hager stating on 'Today with Jenna and Sheinelle' that such comments fuel a culture that judges women based on their appearance. She added, "And who is he to comment on women's bodies? It's not OK."

Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, emphasized the importance of setting a good example for children and advocated for an end to comments about women's looks. She also shared that she would be 'disgusted' if her husband spoke that way about someone, noting he never would.

Loesch, a prominent conservative commentator and the host of the nationally syndicated 'The Dana Show,' responded to Bush Hager's remarks on social media and in a 13-minute video. Loesch questioned the appropriateness of children watching Gillis's monologue and directly addressed Bush Hager's personal reactions.

"[Bush Hager] said she would be disgusted if her husband made a joke like that. Ok, good for you. Live your life. It doesn't make Gillis wrong," Loesch stated. She also commented on Bush Hager's assertion that the word "whore" is a pejorative. Loesch argued that women should be allowed to be proud of their bodies, but suggested that gym environments are not the place for overly revealing attire.

Loesch, who previously served as a spokesperson for the NRA and left the Democratic Party in 2001, elaborated in her video that while not all women dress provocatively at the gym, those who do should not be surprised by commentary on their appearance. She maintained that it is not difficult to understand the distinction.

Gillis, who was infamously fired from 'SNL' in 2019 for past offensive remarks, has seen his star rise since his return to the show. His recent monologue has continued to draw criticism from various public figures, including actor Dan Levy, who labeled the joke as 'misogynistic.'
