Dan Scavino Faces Backlash Over 'Tone-Deaf' AI Video

White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino recently shared an artificial intelligence-generated clip that prompted significant backlash, with critics deeming it "out of touch" and "tone-deaf." The video depicts Scavino, dressed in a suit, joyfully spraying champagne while riding in a luggage cart with his wife, Erin Scavino. The clip also features Eric Trump and Lara Trump pushing the cart, with President Donald Trump greeting them. The roughly six-second video is set to Pitbull's song "Don't Stop the Party."

Scavino captioned the post on X, formerly Twitter, stating he "felt inclined" to share his experience at the White House state dinner held for Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The post followed a similar instance where a photo of Eric and Lara Trump at the same event drew criticism, with some comparing it to a "let them eat cake" moment amid economic concerns.

Carrie Prejean Boller, a conservative activist who was previously removed from the White House’s Religious Liberty Commission, criticized Scavino's post. "You really have no shame, do you?" she wrote on X. "Many Americans can’t afford groceries, gas or their mortgage payment, and you post a tone deaf AI video of you and your buddies partying at the People’s House. MAGA is dead."

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, also commented, noting that a friend could not afford air conditioning during the summer. Jonah Goldberg, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, humorously suggested the video represented "precisely the midterm messaging the GOP needs." Another user described the clip as "revolting," contrasting it with the struggles of farmers facing high diesel fuel prices and questioning how their farms would survive.
