Dan Reynolds Appears Heartbroken After Split From Minka Kelly
The Imagine Dragons frontman was seen looking downcast in Los Angeles the day after news of their breakup became public.
Dan Reynolds, the frontman of Imagine Dragons, was seen appearing heartbroken during an outing in Los Angeles on Thursday, one day after the news of his split from Minka Kelly surfaced.
Reynolds, 39, was photographed grabbing an iced coffee at Maru Cafe in the Los Feliz neighborhood. He was casually dressed in a white shirt and green trousers, accessorized with a blue Dodgers cap and dark navy sneakers. A downcast expression was visible as he left the cafe.
The couple's separation after nearly four years together was reported on Wednesday. Reynolds and Kelly first made their public debut as a couple five months prior, in May, at the MOCA Gala in Los Angeles. Their relationship had reportedly begun after they were first spotted together in November 2022.
Reynolds had legally separated from his ex-wife, Aja Volkman, before meeting Kelly. He and Volkman share four children: son Valentine, six, fraternal twin daughters Gia James and Coco Rae, nine, and daughter Arrow, 14. Their divorce was finalized in 2024.
Kelly has previously been linked to a number of public figures, including Trevor Noah, Jesse Williams, Josh Radnor, Sean Penn, Wilmer Valderrama, Derek Jeter, John Mayer, Chris Evans, Donald Faison, and Taylor Kitsch.
The couple's first joint public appearance was at Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, followed by outings to events like UFC 303 in June 2024. Reynolds confirmed their relationship in July 2024, citing a shared love for creative writing as a point of connection. Kelly also shared a birthday tribute to Reynolds around that time, speaking about his vulnerability.
In an episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends in November 2025, Kelly described Reynolds as "a really good guy" and "the best." Reynolds had previously told People in 2024 that they met through a mutual friend, and after a month of phone conversations, they met in person and have been "attached at the hip" ever since. He also noted that his children "really love Minka," viewing her as an additional person to love within the expanded family structure.
Last year, Reynolds filmed a cameo as the character Billy Brinks in episode nine of Kelly's Netflix series, Ransom Canyon.
Imagine Dragons is scheduled to perform next in Abu Dhabi on December 5. The band has achieved significant global success, with 55.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 74 million albums sold worldwide.
