Dan Orlovsky's Brother-in-Law Dies Suddenly at 43
ESPN NFL analyst announces 'unimaginable tragedy' as Federico Lascano passes away; GoFundMe launched to support his family.
ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky announced on social media that his brother-in-law, Federico Lascano, died suddenly over the weekend. Lascano was 43 years old and the husband of Orlovsky's sister, Christine.
Orlovsky described the loss as an "unimaginable tragedy" and shared a GoFundMe campaign established to support his sister and her three sons. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Orlovsky wrote, "There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a husband, a partner, and a father so suddenly." He added, "In the midst of trying to process this devastating loss, my sister is now facing the overwhelming reality of navigating life as a solo parent and a single-income household, all while helping her boys cope with the loss of their dad."
The GoFundMe states that the proceeds will be used for "everyday living expenses, bills, and groceries while the family takes the necessary time to grieve and process this immense loss." It also aims to assist Christine with the "sudden transition to life without the family’s primary financial provider" and contribute to "the boys' educational costs and essential life expenses."
According to the fundraising page, Christine and Federico had been together since college. The campaign noted, "As Christine faces the unimaginable reality of navigating life without her partner since their college days, she is now the sole provider and rock for her three boys." The funds are intended to ease the financial burden so the family can focus on healing.
As of the time of publication, the GoFundMe had raised over $84,000. Notable donations came from Andrew Whitworth, Diana Taurasi, Chris Mara, Jason McCourty, and Brian Flores.
Lascano's cause of death has not been disclosed. Orlovsky appeared on ESPN's "NFL Live" on Wednesday.
