Dan Dakich Slams Fired Colts GM Chris Ballard as 'Worst GM in NFL History'

Radio host Dan Dakich has voiced his strong disapproval of Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard's tenure, calling him the "worst general manager in the history of the NFL" and asserting that his firing was "seven years too late."

The Colts announced Ballard's dismissal on Monday, one day after the team's loss to the Tennessee Titans. Owner and CEO Irsay-Gordon cited an "urgent" need for a leadership change to meet the franchise's championship standards. "Making this change during the season was a deliberate decision. Waiting would only delay the important work that needs to begin now," Irsay-Gordon stated.

Dakich, host of "Don't @ Me," has been a vocal critic of Ballard for years. On his show, he questioned how he recognized Ballard's perceived shortcomings earlier than the team's management. "How did I know this a long time ago and none of you did?" Dakich asked. "How could I watch 'Hard Knocks' five years ago and go 'this is an absolute sh–tshow and none of you did?'"

Dakich criticized Ballard's record, pointing to the team's lack of playoff appearances in the last five seasons and questioning the quality of draft picks since Jonathan Taylor. He also mentioned concerns about the team's spending and Ballard's past public statements.

Ballard was hired by the Colts in January 2017. During his seven-year tenure, the team did not win the AFC South title and only reached the NFL playoffs twice, securing a single postseason victory in 2018. The Colts currently hold a 2-4 record for the season. Dakich expressed his frustration on social media, tagging Irsay-Gordon and questioning the delay in making the decision.
