Dalton Knecht Drawing Interest From Multiple NBA Teams After Lakers Release

Dalton Knecht, recently released by the Los Angeles Lakers, is already garnering interest from at least two NBA teams, according to SNY's Ian Begley. The Lakers parted ways with the 25-year-old former top pick as a measure to finalize their roster before the season began.

Knecht is eligible to sign a two-way deal, and reports indicate the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams expressing interest. Begley noted via an X post that the Timberwolves had previously shown interest in Knecht, as reported by The Stein Line.

Knecht's potential availability is not surprising, given his status as a top prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft, where the Lakers selected him 17th overall. Despite this, he found himself without a roster spot after averaging 7.1 points and shooting 36.8% from three-point range over two seasons with the Lakers.

The interest from teams like the Knicks and Timberwolves, both considered contenders, suggests Knecht may have an opportunity to join another competitive NBA roster.
