The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) have filed legal action against the band My Chemical Romance (MCR), alleging the group used performers impersonating the cheerleaders in a staged shootout during a concert. Pro Silver Star Ltd., the owner of the DCC, filed for a temporary restraining order and injunction on Friday, accusing MCR of degrading the brand.

During MCR's theatrical concert "The Black Parade" at the Hollywood Bowl on October 21, 2026, female dancers appeared on stage wearing blue and white uniforms similar to those of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. According to the lawsuit filed by attorney Alex Spiro, these performers carried rifles before being depicted in a simulated shootout.

"The costumed performers armed themselves with semi-automatic rifles and joined a staged firefight, and were then depicted being shot and crawling off the stage," the legal documents state. The suit claims this stunt misled concertgoers and social media users into believing the performers were actual Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, leading to online posts that continue to circulate.

Pro Silver Star argues that while they do not object to the band's creative choices, including the use of costumed performers and simulated violence, those performers should not wear the DCC uniform. "Silver Star asks only that those performers not wear the DCC Uniform while doing it," the documents assert, adding that "the universe of alternative costume designs is effectively unlimited."

The legal filing includes a comparison of an official DCC uniform with the one worn during the concert, alongside screenshots of social media posts showing fan confusion. A cease-and-desist letter was reportedly sent to MCR on October 22, but the band allegedly continued with similar performances. The DCC uniform is a federally registered trademark.

MCR had several more scheduled performances at the Hollywood Bowl in late October 2026. The band was contacted for comment.
