Dakota Johnson Didn't Believe OG Anunoby Was Real
The actress confessed during a game on the show "First We Feast" that she thought the Knicks star's name was a fabrication.
Dakota Johnson admitted she was unaware of New York Knicks player OG Anunoby's existence, believing his name to be a fabrication during a game segment on the online show "First We Feast." Johnson, co-starring with Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett in the new film “Verity,” was playing a game called “Wildcard” when Hathaway drew Anunoby's name.
Johnson expressed disbelief, stating, “That’s not real,” and jokingly accused the show’s crew of inventing a name to trick them. Hartnett provided Hathaway with a clue, enabling her to identify Anunoby. Johnson then questioned if Anunoby was indeed a real person, much to Hathaway's surprise.
Hathaway, a known lifelong Knicks fan and New York native, enthusiastically described Anunoby's pivotal tip-in basket in Game 4 of the NBA championship. She called the play “poetry in motion” and “divine.” Hathaway has previously spoken about her deep connection to the Knicks, recounting how she always requests courtside seats for her birthday and sharing an anecdote about Anunoby spilling her son's popcorn during a 2024 game. She also revealed that she would trade a second Oscar for a second Knicks championship title, and was recently gifted a signed jersey by Anunoby.
