Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway Star in 'Verity' Thriller
The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel will be released in theaters on October 2, with a Prime Video streaming release expected later.
Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway lead the cast of "Verity," an erotic thriller based on Colleen Hoover's 2018 novel of the same name. Directed by Michael Showalter and written by Nick Antosca, the film centers on Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer hired to ghostwrite the next book in a series by Verity Crawford (Hathaway), a reclusive bestselling author. While working on the manuscript, Ashleigh uncovers disturbing secrets about Crawford and her husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett).
"Verity" will premiere in movie theaters across the U.S. on Friday, October 2. Ticketing information is available through Fandango. The film is not currently available for online or streaming viewing.
As an Amazon MGM film, "Verity" is expected to eventually be released on Amazon Prime Video. However, the exact streaming release date has not yet been announced, and the timeline for Amazon MGM titles to move from theaters to streaming has varied. For comparable releases in 2026, the window ranged from seven weeks to two or three months. If "Verity" follows a similar pattern to "Masters of the Universe," it could become available on Prime Video in mid-to-late November 2026. Other films have taken longer, with releases potentially extending into December or January.
Those interested in watching "Verity" immediately can do so by attending a theatrical screening. Amazon Prime offers a 30-day free trial, which includes access to Prime Video, free two-day shipping, and other perks. After the trial period, Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. A discounted membership for young adults is also available.
