Daisy May Cooper, known for her role in "This Country," has shed approximately 10 stone, transitioning from a dress size 24 to a size 10 by following the ultra low-carb Keto diet. Cooper, 40, has been showcasing her transformed physique on the "Last One Laughing" Halloween special, often appearing in a fitted mini-dress and thigh-high boots.
The comedian recently revealed that she has faced significant online trolling and shaming following her weight loss. She stated in an interview that the negativity was so intense she no longer owns a phone and relies on her personal assistant to manage her Instagram account. Cooper expressed particular distress over comments suggesting her change in appearance has made her less funny, which she found alarming and linked to broader societal pressures on women.
Cooper admitted that while the Keto diet was effective, she would not recommend it. She shared that at her heaviest, she experienced chest pains and shortness of breath from simple activities like climbing stairs, and was diagnosed with kidney stones, which she attributed to her diet of "meat and cheese." She described the pressure on women to lose weight at any cost as "insane" and "horrendous."
The star also noted that her significant weight loss and cosmetic procedures, including lip fillers, impacted the filming of the second season of her show "Am I Being Unreasonable?" She recalled watching early footage and realizing the continuity challenges, joking that a disclaimer might be needed.
Discussing her past health and well-being, Cooper stated on the BBC podcast "How To Be In The Spotlight" that although she champions body positivity, she was at her most unhappy and unhealthy when she was larger. She detailed a food addiction and physical limitations, such as difficulty breathing when walking upstairs. She expressed anger at the notion that women must be overweight to be considered funny, asserting that personal happiness and health are paramount.
