Daily Mail Nominated for Five Society of Editors Media Freedom Awards

The Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday have received five nominations in the prestigious Society of Editors Media Freedom Awards, with the Daily Mail shortlisted for National News Media Organisation of the Year.

Among the notable nominations is The Mail on Sunday's investigation into the connections between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah Ferguson, and Jeffrey Epstein. This series of exclusives reportedly revealed details about their alleged involvement and prompted the King to revoke royal titles from his brother.

David Patrikarakos has been nominated for Commentator of the Year for his analysis of current events, including sectarian politics, the threat from Iran, and shifts in modern warfare. Mimi Yates, a multimedia reporter, is a contender for Social Media Journalist of the Year. Her investigative work focused on delivery drivers experiencing homelessness and instances of harassment on the London Underground, bringing reporting to a younger audience via TikTok.

Piriyanga Thirunimalan, a reporter for the Mail's true-crime channel, The Crime Desk, has been nominated for Young Journalist of the Year. Her work includes confronting convicted killer Michael Morton and conducting interviews with crime victims.

The Society of Editors chief executive, Dawn Alford, stated that the awards celebrate nominees who contribute to a "healthy, informed democracy."
