Daily Mail Nominated for Five Prestigious Media Freedom Awards

The Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday have been shortlisted for five awards at the Society of Editors Media Freedom Awards, with the Daily Mail recognized in the National News Media Organisation of the Year category.

Among the nominations is The Mail on Sunday's investigation into the connections between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah Ferguson, and Jeffrey Epstein. The reporting uncovered alleged lies and greed, leading to the King stripping his brother of royal titles.

David Patrikarakos earned a nomination for Commentator of the Year for his analysis of current affairs, including sectarian politics, the threat from Iran, and evolving modern warfare.

Multimedia reporter Mimi Yates was shortlisted for Social Media Journalist of the Year. Her work focused on investigations into homeless delivery drivers and harassment on the London Underground, bringing the Mail's reporting to a younger audience.

Piriyanga Thirunimalan, a reporter for the Mail’s true-crime channel, The Crime Desk, is a nominee for Young Journalist of the Year. Her work includes confronting a convicted killer and conducting interviews with victims of crime.

Announcing the shortlist, Dawn Alford, chief executive of the Society of Editors, stated, "We are delighted to celebrate this outstanding group of nominees and the contribution they make to a healthy, informed democracy."
