The Daily Mail has issued a correction and apology regarding an article published on November 22, 2025, which made false claims about the former Coronation Street actor Qasim Akhtar. The article had stated that Akhtar had moved to Pakistan and condemned a "degenerate past," as well as claiming he had "praised" Islamic preacher Uthman Ibn Farooq.
In its clarification, the Daily Mail stated that these claims were untrue. The publication confirmed that Manchester remains Mr. Akhtar's home and that while he did meet with Mr. Farooq, he has never endorsed or supported extremist views. The Daily Mail has agreed to pay Mr. Akhtar damages and apologize for any harm caused by the inaccurate reporting.
