Running back D'Andre Swift has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears worth $33.75 million, with $27.5 million guaranteed. The deal will keep the veteran player with the team through the 2029 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Swift, 27, was entering the final year of his previous three-year, $24 million contract signed in 2024. This new agreement represents a substantial investment in the running back position for the Bears.

In the 2025 season, Swift posted career highs, rushing for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns on 223 carries, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt. He also contributed significantly to the passing game, with 34 receptions for 299 yards and an additional touchdown, serving as a key check-down option for quarterback Caleb Williams.

Despite the Bears selecting Kyle Monangai in the seventh round of last year's draft, who recorded 169 carries for 783 rushing yards and five touchdowns in his rookie campaign, Swift's performance solidified his role.

The Bears' run game was a strength last season, finishing third in the NFL with 2,456 rushing yards, largely due to the contributions of Swift and Monangai. This offensive success coincided with the team's first NFC North title since 2018.

Last season, the Bears also secured their first playoff victory since 2010, defeating the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round before being eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. Swift previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 and the Detroit Lions from 2020-2022, who drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. His sole Pro Bowl selection came during his tenure with the Eagles, where he rushed for 1,049 yards in the 2023 season.
