Cyclist Critically Injured in Dog Attack at Brisbane Park

A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after being attacked by two dogs while riding through a park in Brisbane. The 37-year-old man was on a bike track at Seventh Brigade Park on Kittyhawk Drive in Chermside at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Friday when the incident occurred.

He was pulled from his bicycle by the two animals, believed to be pit bull-type dogs, near Westfield Chermside. Paramedics attended the scene and found the man with severe injuries to his arms. He was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.

Police responded shortly after the attack and were able to locate one of the dogs, which has since been surrendered to Brisbane City Council. A search is ongoing for the second dog.

Authorities have urged local residents to remain vigilant. Chermside parkrun issued a notice to its members, advising them to take precautions for its Saturday event, stating, "Due to an overnight incident in the park NO dogs today (Saturday) and small children must be very close to a parent."
