Customer Claims Texas Roadhouse Served Cheaper Steak Multiple Times; Chain Confirms One Mix-Up

A Texas Roadhouse customer has gained online attention after alleging that he was served a less expensive cut of steak than he ordered on multiple occasions. Kenneth Card posted a TikTok video in early October claiming he received sirloin instead of filet mignon three times at a Texas Roadhouse in Forsyth, Illinois.

Card stated that his past experience working in restaurant kitchens provided him with the confidence to identify different cuts of meat. He told Fox News Digital that he has been a regular at the Forsyth location for over a year, visiting approximately once a week. The first time he encountered the alleged issue, he brought it to the attention of the staff, who then provided him with a filet. On a subsequent visit, he did not raise the concern. However, during a third visit when he ordered filet mignon, he spoke with a manager about his suspicion that he had been served a sirloin.

He recounted telling the manager, "Look, this is the third time that y'all tried to sell me a sirloin or whatever else kind of steak it is besides a filet." According to Card, the restaurant took the steak, and staff confirmed it was not the filet mignon he had ordered. He waited for a replacement and requested it be packaged to go. After returning home, he posted his video, which has since garnered over 30,000 views.

"I just wanted to get the word out that, 'Hey, you're getting ripped off if you're ordering this and they're selling you this,'" Card said.

The sirloin steak is priced around $20 at the Forsyth location, while the filet mignon costs approximately $30, according to the restaurant's website.

Texas Roadhouse has acknowledged the customer's claims, stating that they have been "unable to track that this occurred on three occasions." However, a company spokesperson confirmed that a steak mix-up was corrected on-site during one instance. "Management 'quickly made it right,'" the spokesperson said.

Card expressed surprise at the widespread attention his video received, reiterating that his intention was to ensure customers receive what they pay for. He described the difference between the steaks, noting that a filet "melts in your mouth" and is very tender, while sirloin is "a little grittier, a little chewier."

The restaurant chain stated that its team members double-check orders for quality and accuracy as they leave the kitchen. They advised customers who believe they have received the incorrect order or have been overcharged to notify their server immediately so the issue can be addressed.

Card indicated that he does not plan to return to the Forsyth location and will seek dining elsewhere.
