Stephen Curry scored a season-high 44 points, guiding the Golden State Warriors to a hard-fought 119-114 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Target Center. The Warriors managed to hold on despite a significant second-half comeback attempt by the Timberwolves, who were playing without star player Anthony Edwards.
The Warriors built a commanding lead, extending it to as much as 24 points in the second half. However, their advantage began to erode after Curry was substituted out of the game late in the third quarter. By the start of the fourth quarter, Golden State's lead had shrunk to 12 points.
Despite Curry's offensive output, the Warriors committed 16 turnovers, which the Timberwolves leveraged to narrow the deficit. Yaxel Lendeborg contributed 26 points for the Warriors but was responsible for seven of the team's turnovers. Lendeborg's only free-throw attempts came in the closing minutes. Curry, in contrast, made all 16 of his free-throw attempts.
Brandon Williams was the only other Warriors player to reach double figures, scoring 11 points. Jonathan Kuminga added 20 points for the Timberwolves. Minnesota had four other players score in double digits, with Jaden McDaniels and TJ Shannon each contributing 19 points.
