Crypto Robbers Threaten Unborn Baby in Home Invasion

Robbers threatened to kill a mother's unborn baby and brutally assaulted her husband during a terrifying home invasion in Solihull on December 13, 2025. The assailants demanded the transfer of hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cryptocurrency.

In harrowing CCTV footage, a group of masked men can be seen rushing towards the property before bursting through the door. The woman, who was heavily pregnant, let out a blood-curdling shriek during the ordeal.

Police believe the incident was a planned and targeted attack. The robbers instructed the couple to transfer cryptocurrency, with a fourth offender relaying directions via a video call. During the 45-minute robbery, one assailant placed a pillow over the pregnant woman's face, suffocating her while threatening to stab her and kill her and the baby.

'He's literally suffocating her on the sofa. I can hear her screaming: "I can't breathe",' the husband told the BBC. 'He was basically saying: "Look, if you don't send us this money now, we're going to stab your wife in the stomach and kill your baby. We're going to kill your wife".'

The husband, who had become an amateur crypto investor and quit his job in 2023 to trade full-time, emptied his accounts. The attackers also stole several watches.

Once inside, they demanded the young couple hand over cash in crypto while they relayed instructions to a fourth person on a video call

'They threatened my wife and my baby,' the man added. 'People need to understand these risks are real.' The mother feared she was going into labor during the attack.

West Midlands Police are investigating the robbery. Crimestoppers stated that the offenders left the scene in a vehicle believed to be a black BMW X3. The charity is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

All the attackers are believed to be in their twenties. One is described as a black man with a small diagonal scar beneath his left eyebrow. The female victim was also threatened with a knife during the incident.

Describing how he was beaten during the 45-minute ordeal, the man said one of the robbers placed a pillow over his heavily pregnant wife's face

Alan Edwards, Crimestoppers' West Midlands regional manager, urged the public to come forward. "This was a young family, at home, weeks away from welcoming a new baby," he said. "We understand that speaking up about something like this feels daunting. That's precisely why our charity exists. We are not the police. We never ask for your name, we can't trace your IP address, and you will never be asked to give a statement or go to court. In nearly 40 years we have never broken that promise."

Information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or through its website.
