Mikael Petterson, founder of the cruise company Villa Vie, has admitted to being the "villain" after approximately 200 passengers were left stranded in Cambodia when the ship ran out of fuel. Patterson stated he feels "awful" about the situation and is considering bankruptcy for his company.

Villa Vie Residences had offered passengers the opportunity to purchase cabins on its luxury cruise ship, the Odyssey, for a six-figure sum, promising a lifetime of world travel. However, the venture was reportedly scuttled by a combination of mechanical issues and a significant increase in fuel prices attributed to the war in Iran.

Former residents of the Villa Vie Odyssey wait by the guest services desk to collect their belongings after being forced to disembark.
