Law enforcement is seeking three suspects, identified as Drake Lee Milam, 33, Porsche Bancroft, 32, and Angela Garrett, 52, who are believed to be responsible for a series of mausoleum robberies that have spanned multiple states. The trio, originally from Indianapolis, is wanted in Florida for at least 20 alleged scores, with their spree reportedly extending from Texas to Buffalo, New York.
Theft of Sentimental Valuables
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida stated that the thieves are targeting keepsake heirlooms, often jewelry, intentionally placed inside mausoleum niches with loved ones' remains. Authorities expressed dismay at the nature of the crimes, emphasizing the sentimental value of the stolen items. "Imagine losing your wife or husband and placing their wedding ring, and yours, in the niche – only to have them stolen by thieves looking for an easy payday," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook statement. They urged the public to check the resting places of their loved ones to ensure heirlooms are secure.
Scale of Alleged Crimes
In Florida alone, over $35,000 is reported to have been stolen in connection with these mausoleum thefts. The suspects are the subject of Florida warrants for these alleged robberies. The Central Florida Crimeline has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact 800-423-TIPS (8477).
