Craig Carton Slams Pablo Torre Over Tim Tebow's Inclusion in Life Surge Investigation

Radio host Craig Carton has publicly criticized investigative reporter Pablo Torre for his reporting on the organization Life Surge, specifically questioning the inclusion of Tim Tebow in the investigation. Carton argued that linking Tebow to the company’s alleged predatory business model could amount to defamation if it cannot be proven that Tebow was aware of or involved in the practices.

Torre’s investigation, a collaboration with Mother Jones, alleged that Life Surge used Tebow as part of a model that pressured individuals into paying thousands of dollars for advice without delivering promised returns. According to the report, Tebow spoke at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025 and was scheduled for a similar number in 2026.

Carton, speaking on his show "The Craig Carton Show," acknowledged Torre as a "brilliant investigative reporter" but took issue with how Tebow was portrayed. "Tim Tebow doesn't deserve to be dragged into this unless you got him nailed," Carton stated. "And if you don't have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him."

Carton suggested that if he were Tebow, he would consider such reporting "actionable" and "regrettable." He accused Torre of using Tebow's name and popularity to further his own career and draw attention to the story. "You’re using Tim Tebow to get attention for your story," Carton said. "Whether that story is accurate or not, I’ll take the leap of faith that you’ve reported as an allegation about this Life Surge company that it might even be accurate and factual, and we need to get involved."

Carton emphasized that if Life Surge is indeed engaging in predatory fraud, then district attorneys should be involved in a thorough investigation. However, he expressed strong disapproval of implicating Tebow without concrete evidence of his knowledge or participation.

"How dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others? A man that has dedicated his life to service of his Lord," Carton added. He argued that the report placed Tebow in a difficult position, forcing him to issue a public statement and potentially damaging his reputation.

In response to the allegations and the ensuing scrutiny, Tebow announced that he is "pausing" his relationship with Life Surge. He told The Gainesville Sun, "I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious. And so, for us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more."

Carton concluded his critique by warning Torre, "So, you better have this locked down, Pablo, and maybe you do, but to throw out an allegation, attach a dude's name to it? Shame on you."
