Cowboys Reporter's Live Segment Interrupted by Admirer Amidst Game Loss
A Dallas Cowboys reporter's live on-air report following a disappointing game was humorously interrupted by a fan.
Dallas Cowboys reporter Jeff Kolb experienced an unexpected interruption during a live broadcast while discussing the team's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kolb was on the field at AT&T Stadium, providing an analysis of the Cowboys' 24-16 defeat on Thursday Night Football, when a fan approached him.
As Kolb began to discuss quarterback Dak Prescott's hand injury and the team's struggles, the fan placed an arm around him and said, "You are so cute," before walking off camera.
The reporter was momentarily lost for words, visibly blushing, as his colleagues in the studio reacted with laughter. "I'm being intercepted out here mid-show. I guess there goes the train of thought, right Mike? Back to you," Kolb responded, attempting to regain his composure.
The incident occurred following a frustrating night for the Cowboys, which dropped their season record to 2-3. The team's performance against the Buccaneers, who were previously winless, drew significant disappointment from ownership and players.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his strong dissatisfaction, stating, "I am extraordinarily, extraordinarily disappointed. You really do need to get it done when it's there to take." He acknowledged the team's unexpected 2-3 record and the Buccaneers' winless status coming into the game.
Quarterback Dak Prescott also found himself in the midst of a viral moment when a stadium employee was overheard calling his walk to the locker room "embarrassing." Prescott addressed the comment, urging for directness and accountability from those who voice criticism.
"When he said it I just happened to look at him, and at that point he looked away, didn't look, and when I turned my head back, he said something else," Prescott recounted. "So that's the part that, just as a man or a person, feel free to speak your mind. Just speak it. Don't coward away from the reaction that you're going to get. If you're saying it's embarrassing, say it's embarrassing. If you're saying it to me, say it to me. Don't go back on it."
Prescott was hesitant to use the word "embarrassing" himself to describe the loss, feeling it might disrespect the Buccaneers and their coach, Todd Bowles. "To use the word 'embarrassing,' it's tough," Prescott said. "I feel like I'm discrediting the NFL if I use that, in particular the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the great Todd Bowles coach, defensive-coached team."
He acknowledged that the Cowboys were expected to win the game, especially at home against a winless opponent on primetime television. "You've got to win the games you're supposed to win, and when a winless team comes into your home stadium on a Thursday night, prime time game, yeah, we're supposed to win that. It sucks, right up close to embarrassing, but I don't know if I would say that."
