Cowboys' Loss Compounded by CeeDee Lamb Injury Scare
Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb played sparingly in the second half of the Cowboys' shocking defeat due to a quad injury, adding to the team's woes.
The Dallas Cowboys are facing a grim outlook following their unexpected 24-16 loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, further complicated by a quad injury sustained by star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb played only one offensive snap and was limited during the Buccaneers' final two-point conversion attempt in the latter stages of the game.
Lamb's reduced presence contributed to the Cowboys' offensive struggles, as he finished with just two catches for nine yards. This performance came after a standout game the previous Sunday against the Texans, where he recorded 17 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown. The team has not provided an official update on his injury status.
In Lamb's absence, wide receiver George Pickens had a strong outing, making nine catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. However, tight end Jake Ferguson had two critical drops, including one on the Cowboys' final possession that led to a game-sealing interception by Buccaneers linebacker Alex Anzalone.
The Cowboys, who were heavily favored, now sit at 2-3 on the season. The Buccaneers, with the win, improved to 1-4.
This loss also intensifies the competition within the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with their own injury concerns and a mid-season retirement from Lane Johnson, along with a trade of Cam Jurgens, and currently stand at 2-2. The New York Giants lead the division at 3-1, with the Washington Commanders last in the division at 1-3.
The Cowboys are scheduled to face the Green Bay Packers next week in a Sunday Night Football matchup.
