Cowboys Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Out for TNF Game Due to Illness
The newly acquired defensive player was too sick to play and sent home from the stadium.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been ruled out of the team's "Thursday Night Football" game against the Buccaneers after falling ill with a severe virus.
The team announced Porter's absence approximately 10 minutes before the official inactives list was due. According to NFL Network reporters Jane Slater and Mike Garafolo, Porter became "very sick" and began vomiting.
Porter, 26, arrived at AT&T Stadium on Thursday night but appeared to be in discomfort. A source informed Slater that Porter was ill upon arrival and was subsequently sent home. Garafolo added that Porter was not in a condition to play.
This game would have been Porter's second appearance for the Cowboys since being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played 25 snaps in his previous game against the Texans and was expected to see increased playing time against the Buccaneers.
