A court hearing for Tyler Robinson, accused of murdering Charlie Kirk, was briefly disrupted Thursday when an alleged confession note was mistakenly shown to the public via livestream. Judge Tony Graf had previously ruled that any potential confession documents should not be displayed before jury selection.

Robinson, 23, faces the death penalty if convicted in the September 10, 2025, shooting death of Kirk at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors allege Robinson left the note for his roommate and transgender lover, Lance Twiggs, who goes by the chosen name Luna. Twiggs confirmed to police in April 2026 that he found the note under a computer keyboard at their shared home.

Two images of the note were briefly visible on the livestream: one of the burnt original and another, a picture taken from Twiggs' phone of the unscathed document. The images were quickly removed after the judge noticed the error.

The note, according to court filings and photographs, expressed remorse and explained Robinson's alleged actions. "If you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission, and set an auto text," the note read. "I am likely dead, or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it. I don’t know if I will/have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you."

It continued, "I wish we could have lived in a world where this did not feel necessary. I wish I could have stayed for you and lived our lives together."

Twiggs stated in his police interview that he used the name Luna, and not all his acquaintances were aware of this. During Thursday's hearing, Twiggs testified that Robinson had expressed regret after the shooting.

Twiggs recounted receiving a text from Robinson to check under his keyboard after Kirk was killed. He described finding the note, which panicked him. When Robinson returned home the following day, Twiggs said Robinson appeared agitated and avoided questions about the incident.

"I asked him in person if what he said he had done the night before was true. He said it was," Twiggs testified. He further stated that Robinson eventually admitted to the assassination, began crying, and said he wished he "had not done it," before indicating he would surrender to authorities.

One image was of the burnt note, and the other was a picture of the note taken on Twiggs' phone.

Twiggs' video statement to police, recorded in April 2026, was played during the hearing with some redactions. He told investigators that he and Robinson met in 2023 and moved into an apartment in St. George, Utah. Their romantic relationship began approximately two months later.

According to Twiggs, Robinson left early on the morning of Kirk's assassination, claiming he had a long work shift. Twiggs did not hear from Robinson again until 11 p.m. that night, when he received the text message directing him to check under the keyboard.
