Couple Rescued From Ocean After Being Swept Off Rocks at Notorious California Beach

A couple fishing on rocks at Panther Beach in Santa Cruz, California, were swept into the ocean on Tuesday afternoon and subsequently rescued by emergency responders. Dramatic video captured the moments rescue swimmers from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and California State Parks Public Safety pulled the individuals from the water.
The rescue operation involved extracting the couple from the Pacific Ocean and then transporting them up a steep cliff to a waiting ambulance. A CAL FIRE Fire Hawk helicopter was also observed at the scene. Both individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Panther Beach is known as a dangerous location where rogue waves can pose a significant risk to beachgoers and those fishing from the rocky shore. The incident highlights the persistent dangers associated with the coastline in the area.
