Couple Arrested for Allegedly Operating Illegal Brothel at Cupertino Spa
Authorities in Santa Clara County charged a married couple and an employee with running an illegal brothel that allegedly serviced dozens of clients daily and generated substantial annual revenue.
A married couple and an employee have been arrested for allegedly operating an illegal brothel at the Humming Bird Day Spa in Cupertino, California. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office announced the arrests of Lin Wang, 46, and Xian Wang, 48, along with managing employee Rui Wang, 42, on September 10.
Officials allege the spa, located in the 10000 block of S. De Anza Blvd, was a front for a brothel that served approximately 30 clients daily. The operation is suspected of generating around $700,000 annually and had been run by the couple since 2022.
The investigation began in March following community reports of alleged illegal sexual activity. Evidence gathered suggested a high volume of male customers visited the establishment over short periods each day.
The three individuals face felony charges including pimping, pandering, and tax fraud. Authorities stated that the operation involved long-term pimping and pandering, as well as money laundering. Funds generated were allegedly funneled through mortgage payments for properties in San Jose and Chino Hills, and through investments.
“There is no room in our neighborhoods for working brothels,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen stated. “There is no room in Santa Clara County for the criminal exploitation of human beings.”
During the arrest, two women who were on site at the time received services from Community Solutions. The defendants were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
This case follows a similar operation announced last year by the DA’s office, which involved the bust of a San Jose family accused of running a network of 10 sex brothels generating approximately $1 million annually. That operation reportedly involved the trafficking of dozens of women.
