Country music artist Nate Smith, 40, has shared details of his substantial weight loss, having shed over 70 pounds and setting a goal to weigh under 200 pounds.

Smith, who previously weighed around 275 pounds, told People magazine that he aims to reach 185 pounds. "I think I want to get under 200 pounds," he stated at a concert event in Nashville. "So I was like 275 pounds, somewhere in that world. But I want to get down to like 185 pounds again."

The motivation behind his weight loss is largely performance-driven. "Keeping the energy on stage" is a key priority for Smith, as he believes it directly impacts the fan experience. "I think that takes care of the fans," he explained.

Beyond performance, Smith has also experienced personal benefits, including improved comfort in his clothing and a reduction in physical exertion for daily tasks. "I don't sweat anymore, which is amazing. I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes," he admitted. "But now, I can jump around a lot more."

He noted a significant change in his wardrobe, moving from a size XXL to a large. "This is a large. I've been double X for the last five or six years, so I'm feeling really good."

Smith's decision to focus on his health began in November 2024 following a severe upper respiratory infection. This health scare prompted him to reevaluate his eating and drinking habits.

He reduced his alcohol consumption and increased his protein intake. These lifestyle changes led to a 55-pound loss within the first four months. Smith acknowledged that he still faces challenges with binge eating but is working to incorporate such indulgences as occasional treats rather than a lifestyle pattern.

"I knew I was hurting myself, but I couldn't stop. It was like looking at this mountain and wondering, 'How do I get up there?' I didn't even know where to start," Smith said in 2025, reflecting on his previous struggles. "I'm not even close to my goal. But I'm way happier where I'm at, and I feel, like, better about the way I look."
