A Costco employee has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly fatally striking a co-worker with his car in an Issaquah parking lot. The incident occurred on July 31.
Tyler Sorensen, 22, is accused of ramming his vehicle into Jonathon Langdon, 20, who was riding a motorcycle. According to court documents, Sorensen followed Langdon out of a Costco parking lot before swerving into his lane and hitting him. Langdon was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.
Investigators stated that Sorensen admitted to being jealous after witnessing Langdon hug a female co-worker, whom Sorensen claimed was his girlfriend. Sorensen allegedly texted friends immediately after the incident, stating his "blood is boiling."
The female co-worker denied that she was dating Sorensen and told investigators that she had previously informed him he was "crossing boundaries."
Sorensen reportedly fled the scene but returned about an hour later with a family member to speak with authorities. Court documents indicate that Sorensen initially stopped only to check if his vehicle was drivable. He told law enforcement that his actions were "stupid" and that he only intended to "spook" Langdon, not kill him.
Issaquah Police Chief Steve Mylett expressed condolences to the victim's family and friends.
