Costco Continues Expansion with New Vallejo, California Location

Costco is set to open a new, larger store in Vallejo, California, in November, continuing its significant nationwide expansion. The new location will replace an existing Costco in the city. The development comes as the retail giant plans to open 33 new warehouses across the U.S. and Canada in its 2027 fiscal year, with an estimated investment of $7.5 billion for these new stores.
The Vallejo store's construction is visible in social media videos, though some local commenters expressed skepticism about the November opening timeline given the amount of work remaining. Others welcomed the development, with one resident noting that the city could use an upgrade and another commenting that the new location would alleviate parking issues present at the current store.
This expansion in California includes another new Costco store in Camarillo, scheduled to open on October 30. The news of Costco's growth also coincides with competitor Sam's Club increasing its presence in California, with a new store recently opening in Lathrop.
Costco CEO Ron Vachris announced the company's expansion plans, which include several other store openings in October and November across various states. These include new locations in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas; South Meridian, Idaho; Chandler, Arizona; Newport News, Virginia; and Franklin, Wisconsin. The company confirmed these plans during its recent earnings call.
