Costa Rican Police Seek Woman in Connection with Murder of Elderly American Man
Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in the September 27 death of a 74-year-old American found with head injuries.
Costa Rican police are seeking a young woman in connection with the death of an elderly American man who was found murdered in late September. The 74-year-old man, identified only as 'Fleming,' was discovered in Playas del Coco, a popular tourist beach town, on September 27 at approximately 4:50 p.m.
The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) of Costa Rica, a law enforcement body comparable to the FBI, has released surveillance footage and is appealing for public help to identify a woman they suspect of the homicide. Authorities reported that 'Fleming' entered a condo near the beach with the woman, and she was later seen leaving the premises alone.
Upon discovering the body, officials noted multiple head injuries, suggesting the victim may have been killed with a blunt object. The OIJ described the suspect as a woman with a fair complexion, a slender build, black hair, and approximately 1.6 meters (5 feet 2 inches) tall.
The released video footage shows the woman walking in Playas del Coco hours before the incident. At the time, she was reportedly wearing sandals, blue denim shorts, and a white, bra-like top, with chain accessories. The OIJ has urged anyone who recognizes the woman or has any information to contact them directly.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and locate the suspect. The Daily Mail has reached out to the OIJ for further comment.
