Costa Rican Authorities Seek Woman in Connection with U.S. Citizen's Death
Police have released a description and are asking for public assistance to identify a woman suspected in the homicide of a 74-year-old American found dead in late September.
Costa Rican authorities are searching for a woman in connection with the death of a 74-year-old American citizen, identified only as "Fleming," whose body was discovered on September 27. The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), Costa Rica's equivalent of the FBI, is seeking public assistance to identify the suspect.
According to officials, the American entered a condominium in Playas del Coco, a popular tourist destination on the country's northern Pacific coast, at 4:50 p.m. on September 27. The woman, who is the primary suspect, was reportedly seen leaving the condo alone shortly after.
Investigators located Fleming's body inside the condominium, where they observed head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. The OIJ described the woman they are seeking as having a fair complexion, a slender build, black hair, and standing approximately 1.60 meters tall (about 5 feet 3 inches). At the time she was last seen, she was wearing blue denim shorts, sandals, and a white bra with chain-like accessories.
Security footage released by police shows the woman walking down a street with another individual. The OIJ has provided a contact number, 800-800-0645, for anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect's identity.
