Coronation Street Sweeps Inside Soap Awards with Eight Wins

Coronation Street emerged as the dominant force at the 2026 Inside Soap Awards, securing a total of eight accolades, including the coveted Best Soap award for the third consecutive year. The ceremony, held in Manchester, saw the ITV drama's stars and storylines recognized by readers of Inside Soap magazine. In addition to Best Soap, Coronation Street also won Best Actor for Gareth Pierce, Best Actress for Vicky Myers, Best Storyline, Best Partnership, Best Villain, Best Exit, and Best Young Performer. The hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline involving Todd and Theo was honored with Best Storyline, while James Cartwright received Best Villain for his portrayal of Theo Silverton. Daniel Brocklebank's character's exit also earned him an award. Tina O'Brien and Lucy Fallon, who play mother and daughter on the show, were among the attendees, arriving in striking mini dresses. O'Brien sported a white mini dress with a feathered stole, while Fallon wore a sheer black dress with lace shorts.

Emmerdale's Dingle family continued their winning streak, taking home the Best Family award for the seventh year running. Chris Coghill was recognized with both Best Newcomer and Best Comic Performance for his role as Kev Barton. The historic crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, titled 'Corriedale,' was named Best Showstopper of 2026.

Adam Thomas of Waterloo Road received the Best Drama Star award for the second time. The Outstanding Achievement award was presented to Alex Fletcher, celebrated for her four decades in soap operas, including her roles in Brookside and Hollyoaks. Claire King became the first inductee into the Inside Soap Awards Hall of Fame, marking 30 years since her initial wins at the first ceremony.

EastEnders star Diane Parish was named Soap Superstar of 2026 for her portrayal of Denise Fox, with readers commending her sensitive handling of the character's blood cancer storyline. Inside Soap editor Sarah Ellis commented on the emotional impact of the year's storylines, noting that they provided opportunities for powerful performances and resonated strongly with the audience, as evidenced by the record number of votes cast.
