Coronation Street Star Tracy Shaw Misses Breast Cancer Appointment Due to Parking Issues

Former Coronation Street actress Tracy Shaw recently missed a vital breast cancer appointment due to a lack of available parking spaces at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Shaw, who played Maxine Peacock in the ITV soap, described the incident in a tearful Instagram story, explaining she spent 45 minutes circling the car park despite arriving early.

Shaw, 53, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and had recently undergone her fourth round of chemotherapy. She stated that hospital staff suggested parking on the road, but she found the likelihood of securing a space there to be very slim, a problem she noted is common for visitors to the hospital. The missed appointment has caused significant anxiety for the actress, particularly as it was one she was anticipating.

She also mentioned that she does not have a support person available to drop her off, as her son has returned to university. Shaw noted that such parking issues are not uncommon, recalling a previous instance where she was 45 minutes late for a chemotherapy session due to similar difficulties.

The actress confirmed that the appointment would need to be rescheduled and thanked her followers for their supportive messages. Last month, Shaw shared an update on her condition, revealing that her breast cancer is currently inoperable. She explained that while ultrasounds showed her tumors had changed shape from round to oval, they had not decreased in size, contrary to her hopes following chemotherapy.

Shaw had been checking on her condition and a newly discovered lump in her right breast. She reported that the lumps in her right breast were cysts, which is good news, but the lesions on her left breast had not shrunk. She expressed her feelings of expecting some tangible results from her body's response to treatment.

Shaw joined Coronation Street in 1995 and portrayed Maxine Peacock until 2003. Her character was involved in several notable storylines, including an affair with Fiona Middleton's boyfriend and a later marriage to Ashley Peacock. Maxine's on-screen death was a high-profile murder storyline. Beyond her acting career, Shaw also pursued a music career in the late 1990s and has since appeared in other television dramas and theatre productions.
