Coronation Street Star Sells Belongings for Wedding Fund

Actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, known for her role in Coronation Street, has found an unconventional way to fund her upcoming wedding to fiancé Lewis Devine: selling items at a car boot sale.

Hudson, who announced her engagement in April, revealed on Instagram that she made over £300 by clearing out clutter from her garage. She described the experience as fun, parting with items such as old shoes, baskets, lamps, and plant pots that had accumulated over time.

The actress woke up at 6:30 a.m. after her alarm failed, rushing to set up her stall in the dark by 6:45 a.m. By 7:30 a.m., her children and a neighbor, Daphne, had arrived to help. Daphne also brought coffee and biscuits, which Hudson appreciated given her rushed start.

The sale, which ran until 1 p.m., was successful, with Hudson reporting earnings of £305. She noted that wedding planning can be expensive and is in favor of finding cost-saving methods.

Hudson plans to hold more sales, including one for clothing items and potentially a Christmas-themed sale. She humorously added that her fiancé Lewis Devine, who also enjoys car boot sales, would not be joining her for future selling ventures as he tends to buy more than sell.

In July, Hudson shared that she experiences more rejection in her acting career now compared to her earlier days on the soap opera. She reflected on her life at 43, navigating perimenopause, motherhood, and her business, emphasizing the importance of wellness and self-care.

Hudson, who played Katy Harris in Coronation Street from 2002 to 2005, has also appeared in other television series such as Wild at Heart, Doctors, Hollyoaks, and Casualty.

She and Devine, who have a blended family, announced their engagement in April after eight years together. Devine proposed during a trip to the Lake District, a place significant to their relationship's early days. Hudson expressed her joy and excitement about marrying him.

Hudson was previously married to Coronation Street co-star Alan Halsall, with whom she shares a daughter. Her son Carter is with her fiancé Devine.
