Coronation Street and Emmerdale Stars Celebrate Major Wins at Inside Soap Awards

Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars celebrated a night of significant wins at the 30th annual Inside Soap Awards held in Manchester.

Coronation Street secured a total of eight accolades, marking its third consecutive win for Best Soap. The ITV drama also took home awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Storyline, Best Partnership, Best Villain, Best Exit, and Best Young Performer. The hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline involving Todd and Theo was recognized as Best Storyline, while Gareth Pierce won Best Actor for his portrayal of Todd Grimshaw. James Cartwright was named Best Villain for his role as Theo Silverton, and Daniel Brocklebank received Best Exit for his character Billy Mayhew's storyline. Vicky Myers was awarded Best Actress for her performance as Lisa Connor-Swain, and Alison King and Vicky Myers won Best Partnership for their roles as Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain.

The historic crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, titled 'Corriedale,' was named Best Showstopper of the year. Emmerdale's Dingle family was honored as Best Family for the seventh year running, and Chris Coghill won both Best Newcomer and Best Comic Performance for his role as Kev Barton.

Waterloo Road's Adam Thomas received the Best Drama Star award for the second time. Former Brookside and Hollyoaks star Alex Fletcher was presented with the Outstanding Achievement award for her four decades in soap.

Emmerdale actress Claire King was inducted into the Inside Soap Awards Hall of Fame, celebrating her long career and her initial wins at the first ceremony 30 years prior. EastEnders' Diane Parish was named Soap Superstar of the year for her portrayal of Denise Fox, particularly her handling of a blood cancer storyline.

Inside Soap editor Sarah Ellis commented on the success of the soaps, noting that the past year provided emotional viewing and allowed actors to deliver powerful performances, which resonated with the record number of voters. The awards ceremony highlighted the continued strength and impact of British soap operas.

Stars such as Lucy Fallon and Jennifer Metcalfe were seen leaving the event after the celebrations. Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt in Coronation Street, opted for a sheer black dress and lace shorts. Metcalfe, from Hollyoaks, wore a strapless black dress with tassels. Other attendees included Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien, who wore a white minidress with a feathered stole, and Julia Goulding.
