Cornell Fraternity Brothers Accused of Drugging, Gang-Raping Student
A lawsuit filed by a former student alleges a four-hour assault at the Chi Phi house, detailing disturbing messages exchanged by the accused.
Seven fraternity brothers at Cornell University have been accused of drugging and gang-raping a female student during a party at the Chi Phi house. The allegations were detailed in a lawsuit filed on Wednesday.
The lawsuit claims the assault lasted for approximately four hours. According to reports, disturbing messages were sent among the accused fraternity members to coordinate and during the attack.
The accuser, identified as Doe, alleged that the incident took place late on October 19, 2024. The suit also names Moonies Bar & Nightclub as a defendant, alleging that staff served the student alcohol despite her being underage and visibly intoxicated.
Doe stated that the fear and humiliation resulting from the alleged attack led her to drop out of Cornell. An investigation by the local District Attorney's office was conducted, but no criminal charges were filed in relation to the incident.
The Chi Phi fraternity national organization has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded. This lawsuit brings renewed attention to issues of sexual assault and fraternity culture within Ivy League institutions.
