Cornell Frat Member Accused in Gang Rape Allegations Reportedly Fled to Thailand
Matthew Ingalls, one of seven Cornell fraternity brothers accused of gang rape, allegedly told friends he was traveling to Thailand to 'find himself' following the allegations.
Matthew Ingalls, one of seven Chi Phi fraternity brothers at Cornell University facing gang rape allegations, reportedly told friends he was traveling to Thailand to "find himself" after the accusations surfaced. Ingalls was expelled from the Ivy League school following the explosive allegations.
The incident allegedly took place in 2024, and footage obtained by ABC News purportedly shows the frat house bedroom where the assault is claimed to have occurred. The Tompkins County district attorney's office declined to prosecute the case.
Cornell's Chi Phi chapter was shut down in 2024 after the allegations and remains barred from campus. The footage shows a bed in the room where the alleged assault took place, with trash littered around the space. The victim claims seven fraternity brothers snorted ketamine off her body.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Ingalls' father, Matthew B. Ingalls, 48, is a prominent academic specializing in Islamic law, Muslim intellectual history, and Sufism. He has taught classes on Shariah Law and Islam at institutions including Yale University, the University of Puget Sound, and the American University in Cairo, Egypt. He is pictured with his wife, Yasmine Khattab.
Matthew Ingalls was a member of the rugby team and joined the Chi Phi fraternity after enrolling at Cornell.
