Ariana Rose, 40, has been sentenced to five years in prison for a series of fraudulent schemes that funded a lavish lifestyle. Operating under aliases, Rose posed as a house-sitter and a landlady to deceive wealthy clients across Britain, stealing valuables and amassing approximately £67,000.
Newly released police footage captures the moment of Rose's arrest, revealing her visibly shaken reaction as officers detained her. During the arrest, she was informed she was being apprehended in connection with a burglary. Subsequent searches of her property uncovered a significant hoard of stolen items, including First World War medals, a CBE, limited-edition books, jewelry, and Christmas ornaments that a victim had collected for 27 years.
Rose, whose real name is Sana Ali, was found guilty of five counts of theft from a dwelling in December of the previous year. She later pleaded guilty to five charges of theft, four fraud offenses, four counts of forgery, and one of perverting the course of justice. Southwark Crown Court heard that her fraudulent activities amounted to around £67,000.
Her methods involved infiltrating the homes of clients she was hired to care for. She accepted employment as a house sitter at properties in Shipston-on-Stour and Southam, Warwickshire. In one instance, after preparing a meal for clients returning from holiday, they later discovered that several items had been stolen and replaced with fakes. The stolen items from these properties alone included jewelry valued at over £35,000, a Le Creuset Balti pan, a silver dish, and gold-plated Christmas ornaments.
Detective Constable Adam Stather of Warwickshire Police stated that Rose's actions funded a lavish lifestyle and that the stolen items were often highly sentimental. He expressed hope that the victims would find some comfort in her apprehension and accountability.
During her arrest, officers discovered photographs on Rose's phone depicting stolen items from the houses she had managed. Her spending included luxury holidays, fine dining at Claridge's, designer clothing, a Rolex watch, and rented BMWs. She has also faced accusations of defrauding brides-to-be by taking payments for hair and makeup services and subsequently canceling at the last minute.
