A conwoman who posed as a house-sitter and landlady to steal from wealthy clients has been jailed for five years. Ariana Rose, 40, whose real name is Sana Ali, was sentenced last month after admitting to a string of fraudulent schemes designed to fund her extravagant lifestyle.
Rose was found guilty of five counts of theft from a dwelling in December and pleaded guilty to five charges of theft, four fraud offences, four of forgery, and one of perverting the course of justice on July 2. Southwark Crown Court heard her fraud amounted to approximately £67,000.
Authorities stated that Rose lived a lavish lifestyle funded by the items she stole from clients who trusted her to care for their homes. Detective Constable Adam Stather of Warwickshire Police commented that these items were often highly sentimental and cherished, expressing hope that the victims find comfort now that Rose has been held accountable.
Her scams included posing as a house sitter at properties in Shipston-on-Stour and Southam, Warwickshire. While her clients were away, she stole thousands of pounds worth of cash and valuables, including silverware, jewellery, and a Le Creuset Balti pan. In one instance, she prepared a meal and a cake for returning clients, only for them to later discover numerous items were missing and had been replaced with fakes.
Items taken from these properties included jewellery valued at over £35,000, war medals from the First World War, a CBE, limited-edition books, Christmas ornaments, and other personal belongings. Police uncovered a large haul of stolen goods during her arrest and subsequent property search.
Rose spent the proceeds of her crimes on luxury holidays, dining at Claridge's, designer clothing, a Rolex watch, and rented BMWs. Photos of stolen items from each of the houses she had looked after were found on her phone upon her arrest.
Footage released by police shows the moment of Rose's detention. She is seen visibly shaken in her car before being asked to exit and placed under arrest. As an officer informed her she was being arrested in connection with burglaries, Rose repeatedly responded, "OK, OK."
Following her sentencing, Rose has also reportedly been accused of defrauding brides-to-be by taking payment for hair and make-up services and then canceling at the last minute.
