Convicted Murderer Escapes Tennessee Prison, Authorities Say
Jacob Morley, serving a life sentence, breached the perimeter fence of Northwest Correctional Complex on Sunday night.
Authorities are searching for Jacob Morley, a 28-year-old convicted murderer who escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) announced Monday.
Morley, who is serving a life sentence for crimes including first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest, and vandalism, escaped the facility around 11:30 p.m. on October 25, 2026. Security cameras confirmed that Morley breached the perimeter fence and exited the facility while wearing a TDOC uniform.
The TDOC is collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend Morley and is urging the public to contact law enforcement immediately with any sightings or information.
A wanted poster describes Morley as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 240 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. The TDOC has provided a hotline number, 1-844-832-3463, for tips, in addition to advising people to call 911.
Lake County Sheriff Bryan Avery asked the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution, emphasizing that individuals should not approach, confront, or attempt to apprehend Morley if they spot him. Instead, they should immediately contact law enforcement and provide relevant information.
The Northwest Correctional Complex has an operating capacity to house 1,776 male inmates with custody levels ranging from minimum to close, according to the TDOC. Morley was convicted of murder in 2022.
