Molly Martens, 42, is six months pregnant, more than a decade after she and her father killed her husband, Jason Corbett. Martens revealed her pregnancy on social media, sharing an ultrasound image and asking for advice from other expectant mothers, with a due date expected in late November.

Martens is reportedly living with her boyfriend, Josh Parrott, an engineer from her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. The couple moved into a home purchased by Parrott in October 2025. Martens has recently returned to work at an interior design firm, her first employment since her release in June 2024.

A Decade Since Corbett's Death

Jason Corbett, 39, a businessman from Ireland, was found beaten to death with a baseball bat and a concrete brick in the bedroom of his North Carolina home on August 2, 2015. Prosecutors alleged that Martens and her father, Tom Martens, a former FBI agent, killed Corbett after he planned to move back to Ireland with his two children, Sarah and Jack, whom Martens wished to adopt. The coroner was unable to count all of Corbett's injuries.

In 2017, Molly Martens and her father were convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 to 25 years. However, their convictions were overturned on appeal in 2021. In October 2023, they accepted a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter, receiving a sentence of four years and three months. Both were released in June 2024.

Marital Tensions and Adoption Plans

Martens married Corbett in 2011, after meeting him in 2008 following the death of his first wife. She took a role as nanny to his infant daughter Sarah and toddler son Jack. The couple relocated to North Carolina, but tensions reportedly arose over Martens' desire to formally adopt the children. Investigators believe her inability to have her own child contributed to marital strain.

Corbett had expressed concerns to his sister about Martens' claims of miscarriage and her desire for expensive fertility treatments. Emails presented during the investigation reportedly showed Martens mocking her husband and placing recording devices in their home and car. Martens has consistently maintained that the killing was an act of self-defense against an abusive husband.

Aftermath and Family Reactions

Following Corbett's death, a judge awarded custody of Sarah and Jack to the Corbett family in Ireland. Jason Corbett's daughter, Sarah Corbett Lynch, now 19, expressed relief that Martens would not have children in her life, stating that she was a victim of coercive control and abuse. She added that the Corbett family is left with the permanent consequences of the events.

Jack Corbett, 21, expressed concern for Martens' unborn child, stating, "I have zero interest in Molly Martens' life. But where there is a child involved - I can only hope they are born healthy and grows up safe, protected from ever experiencing the kind of harm Sarah and I lived through." He added that he is still recovering from the abuse he and his sister endured and fears that another child could experience similar trauma.

The Corbett family has stated that the plea deal offered no closure and that Martens remains a killer. They continue to honor Jason Corbett's memory through his children.
