Construction work at a wildlife site in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, has been halted following a High Court injunction. Hertfordshire Police were present at the location as the development was stopped.

East Hertfordshire District Council became aware of digging on the land, which did not have planning permission, on Saturday morning. Residents described the site as an area frequently visited by muntjac deer and possessing a rich ecosystem. The injunction, issued by the High Court, temporarily blocked further development on the land, including the movement of caravans onto the site, and banned anyone from occupying the plot.

Police officers arrived on site around 9:00 AM BST on Tuesday. Shortly after, at approximately 9:30 AM BST, protesters reportedly cheered as the first vans and diggers began to leave the site.

Protesters sit and stand next to a tree line on a roadside in the dark. People are using torches to illuminate the road. On the left of the road is a white county border sign which reads "HERTFORDSHIRE county of opportunity" black letters. There is a 20mph speed limit sign above it.

An aerial view of a piece of land that houses several static and touring caravans. There is a road leading into the site and grey hardstanding can be seen. There are also several cars and some smaller buildings.

A drone picture of the field, which has been badly damaged and covered with hardcore. There are lots of vans on site and a caravan. It is surrounded by brown fencing.
