Conservative radio host Steve Deace has revealed what he described as deeply concerning private polling data delivered to Iowa House Republicans, suggesting that even traditionally safe GOP districts may be vulnerable in the upcoming midterm elections.
Deace, host of "The Steve Deace Show" on Blaze Media, shared on social media platform X that pollsters have informed Iowa House Republicans that districts with a +15 Republican advantage could be within the margin of error, and districts with a +10 advantage might be underwater. He indicated the current midterm environment could be even worse than that of 2006.
"I slept on whether to share this publicly, because I don’t want to cause anyone to black pill," Deace wrote. "But this morning I ultimately decided the truth should be shared while there is still six weeks left to do something about it for the good of the country."
He expressed particular concern about the potential impact of the war with Iran, which he stated was launched by Donald Trump in February. Deace characterized the conflict as a significant political liability, comparing it to the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown in its negative effect and warning that it is "risking what’s left of the Trump presidency."
Deace urged Republicans to prioritize domestic issues and called for a more aggressive messaging strategy from Trump and the party. He suggested that the GOP still possesses ample material to challenge Democrats but emphasized the need for a renewed focus.
"I desperately want us to win. I desperately want this presidency to fulfill all the great promise it had coming out of the 2024 election. But whatever this currently is, isn’t it," Deace stated. "We don’t have to just sit here and take the L. It doesn’t have to end this way."
He concluded by urging action, stating, "We can still win. There’s plenty of ammunition to hammer the Democrats with."
