Conservative Activist Urges AI Guardrails Amid Concerns for Children and Workers

Amy Kremer, chairwoman of the advocacy group Humans First, is urging the federal government to establish safety guardrails for artificial intelligence (AI), particularly concerning child safety and the potential impact on American employment. Kremer, known for her past involvement with the Tea Party and support for the MAGA movement, believes that AI companies are not adequately regulated.

"If something happens with one of these companies, whether it's a child taking their own life due to suicide by manipulation with a chatbot, these companies are not required to report it to the federal government," Kremer stated in an interview with Fox News Digital. She highlighted the case of the 2025 Florida State University mass shooting, where court documents alleged the shooter used ChatGPT to plan aspects of the attack. Kremer noted that such incidents often come to light only through lawsuits filed by victims and their families.

Humans First advocates for government safeguards on AI technology, aiming to give the public a voice in its development and deployment, rather than leaving these decisions to what the group terms "Big AI globalists." Kremer draws a parallel to other regulated industries, such as aviation and pharmaceuticals, where safety incidents must be reported to the government.

Despite her calls for regulation, Kremer emphasized that she is not opposed to AI or technological advancement. "I want America to win this AI race, I absolutely I do. I'm America first, always have been, and we've led the world on innovation and ingenuity," she said. "But again ... I go back to, you don't have to forego safety to have innovation and ingenuity."

Kremer expressed concern that AI companies prioritize their own interests over those of the public. "They don't care about Republicans, they don't care about Democrats, they don't care about Americans. At the end of the day, I think they care about their own companies and their technology, and that's what, what drives them," she asserted.

The Trump administration has indicated its focus on a booming economy that offers workers opportunities and limited disruption from new technologies. A White House official told Fox News Digital that the goal is for workers to maintain access to high-paying jobs and adapt easily to new processes. The administration's National Policy Framework on Artificial Intelligence, released in March 2026, includes recommendations for Congress to implement AI child safety measures. These proposals involve empowering parents with tools to control children's content exposure and privacy settings, establishing age assurance requirements for AI platforms accessible to minors, and ensuring safeguards against child exploitation and self-harm.
