Conor Kennedy, grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy, is planning a lavish multi-day wedding celebration in Rio de Janeiro this October, culminating in a reception at the Christ the Redeemer statue. His bride will be Brazilian pop star Giulia Marinho, known professionally as Giulia Be.
The couple, who held a civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March, are organizing a three-day event in Marinho's hometown. This celebration includes a "blessing" dinner at the landmark statue, which stands 125 feet tall atop Corcovado mountain. The event is expected to draw hundreds of guests, including more than 150 members of the Kennedy family.
Marinho, 26, expressed her desire to host the wedding in Brazil, stating, "I think Brazil is one of the best places to get married. We know body and soul how to throw a party, and it doesn’t end at 10 p.m." The couple chose the Christ the Redeemer statue for its iconic status and the panoramic views it offers of Rio de Janeiro.
Conor Kennedy, 31, is the eldest son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his second wife, Mary Richardson, who died in 2012. Kennedy and Marinho have been together since 2022 and shared matching Immaculate Heart of Mary tattoos as a tribute to Kennedy's late mother. Marinho noted the significance of the symbol, stating, "We are both Catholic, and his mother died when he was 17 years old, and I thought it would be cool to do some kind of homage to Mary."
Adding to the festivities, the Roman Catholic wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place at the historic Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé church in downtown Rio, with an additional dinner party planned at a mansion in the city's Botanical Gardens neighborhood.
Giulia Marinho's family also has political ties. Her father, Paulo Marinho, is a former state senator in Rio de Janeiro and has shifted his political support between notable Brazilian figures.
Conor Kennedy previously dated singer Taylor Swift in 2012. At the time, Swift was 22 and Kennedy was 18. Swift briefly owned a home near the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, before selling it.
