Conor Kennedy Celebrates Lavish Three-Day Wedding Extravaganza in Rio
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s son weds Brazilian pop star Giulia Be with celebrations set to feature the Christ the Redeemer statue.
Conor Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was seen in Rio de Janeiro on Friday preparing for a three-day wedding celebration with Brazilian pop star Giulia Be. The festivities are set to include events with the Christ the Redeemer statue as a backdrop.
Kennedy, 32, was photographed on the rooftop of the five-star Hotel Fasano, overlooking Ipanema Beach, mingling with friends. He was dressed casually in linen pants and a T-shirt. The hotel's suites can cost up to $2,500 per night. This event marks the primary celebration for the couple, who had a smaller civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March.
Giulia Be, whose real name is Giulia Bourguignon Marinho, had previously indicated in a Brazilian magazine interview that the main wedding celebration would take place in her native Rio de Janeiro in October. The planned events include a welcome party, a blessing ceremony at the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue, a religious ceremony at a local church, and a reception.
Be, a Latin Grammy nominee, expressed her desire for the wedding to be in Brazil, noting her country's capacity for extended celebrations. "My love, I love you, but I'm not getting married in Massachusetts," she said, referencing the Kennedy family's home state. "I think Brazil is one of the best places to get married. We know how to do it, we give ourselves body and soul, and the party doesn't end at 10 pm."
It is not confirmed how many of Kennedy's prominent relatives will attend the wedding. However, Be mentioned that his family, including his father Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and stepmother Cheryl Hines, accounts for approximately 150 guests on the list. "I'm from the most beautiful city in the world, and this was my only chance to really bring his whole family and friends to Brazil. I want to show them the best of Brazil, so I want to throw an incredible party," Be stated. She added, "Imagine you've never seen Christ the Redeemer, and you're going to see it for the first time at a wedding. It's truly very special."
The couple, based in Los Angeles, have worked to integrate their different cultural traditions into the wedding. "We wanted to adapt to things they're used to doing at their weddings. So, speeches, for example, are something that's now a bit more common at Brazilian weddings, but it wasn't always like that. In the US, speeches are the most important thing," Be explained. Kennedy agreed, noting the significance of speeches in his family.
This marriage celebration follows an earlier event where Kennedy was reportedly placed on Russian President Vladimir Putin's most wanted list after traveling to Ukraine to fight with the International Legion in 2022. It remains unclear if Brazil has an extradition agreement with Russia.
Kennedy, a grandson of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and great-nephew of President John F. Kennedy, began dating Be the year he went to Ukraine. He proposed to Be, known for her Portuguese chart-toppers, before she relocated from Brazil to the U.S. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram.
Conor Kennedy previously dated singer Taylor Swift in 2012. During their brief relationship, Swift was frequently seen at the Kennedy family's Cape Cod home. Before Be, Kennedy was also linked to model Michaela Vybohova and was seen with Ava Dash in 2021.
