YouTube influencer Connor Murphy, 32, drowned in a lake in Thailand earlier this week, according to reports. Murphy, who had amassed over 2.36 million subscribers for his content focused on "looksmaxxing" and self-improvement, was reportedly found after an incident where he fled from a security guard.
An alarming video circulated online following news of his death, in which Murphy appeared disoriented and stated he felt like he was "dying every second" due to being "really high." The video's authenticity and timeframe are unclear, with some reports suggesting it is several years old.
Murphy was known to explore various philosophies, including spirituality and the use of psychedelics. A fellow influencer noted Murphy's interest in ayahuasca, a psychedelic tea, in 2020, which reportedly led to a period of "manic grandiosity."
Authorities reportedly found pills inside Murphy's bag at his rental home, which he shared with his girlfriend. Among the items were at least two boxes of Stablon, an antidepressant medication not approved by the FDA, and packets of Falim gum. It is not confirmed if Murphy was taking these substances at the time of his death.
Murphy was involved in a verbal altercation with a security guard at his estate shortly before his body was recovered from a 32-foot-deep lake. Divers located his body after he fled the scene when police arrived.
