Authorities are investigating the drowning death of 32-year-old influencer Connor Murphy, whose rental home in Thailand was discovered in a state of disarray. Murphy, known for his "looksmaxxing" content, was found dead in a lake near his rented property in Samut Prakan.
Investigators found the once-pristine lakeside home smeared with a gray and yellowish paint-like substance on the walls and ceiling. The kitchen was reportedly in a state of filth, with a black tar-like substance splashed across the tiles and dishes. Several packets of Falim gum, used to enhance jaw appearance, were found near the sink, along with at least two boxes of the antidepressant medication tianeptine, also known as Stablon. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved tianeptine for medical use, and it is not known if Murphy was taking it.
The kitchen worktop was strewn with items, and ornaments on shelves were covered in residue. Electrical equipment, including a kettle, blender, and scales, were also coated in the black substance. Overflowing trash cans and bags, along with a cardboard box filled with garbage, were found inside the residence. Syringes were discovered in Murphy's car, and white pills were found in his bag.
The homeowner, identified as Ms. View, expressed devastation upon learning about the condition of the property. Murphy and his 22-year-old girlfriend, identified as Bee, had been renting the home for three months at a rate of approximately $1,046 per month. Bee claimed the home was trashed while she was asleep in her room and stated she had not noticed any odd behavior from Murphy in the months leading up to his death, nor had she seen him use drugs.
Murphy was found in a 32-foot-deep lake. Local media reported that moments before entering the water, he had a verbal altercation with a security guard. He reportedly attempted to flag down a car for a ride, but the guard advised the driver against it. Following the exchange, Murphy shouted at the guard and rolled on the ground. He then fled the scene when police arrived. Divers searched for about 30 minutes before locating his body approximately 66 feet from the bank.
Investigators found bruises on Murphy's body, which they believe were sustained from rolling on the ground. There were no signs of assault, and authorities suspect drowning as the cause of death. An official cause of death has not yet been released, and toxicology tests are pending.
Murphy, who had 2.36 million subscribers on YouTube, last posted a video six days before his death, which he described as a "satirical acting performance" and a "dramatization" intended to "discourage harmful online looksmaxxing trends." The video's description warned viewers that the depicted behaviors were exaggerated and should not be imitated.
In previous videos, Murphy discussed his jaw appearance, attributing it to his masseter muscles. He also recounted a time when doctors recommended an ultrasound due to concerns about potential tumors. The U.S. Embassy in Thailand has been notified of his death.
